RIO DE JANEIRO, July 21 (xinhua) — China remains a massive market and a key global source of investment amid global economic uncertainties, and its sustained growth is creating development opportunities for brazil and beyond, a Brazilian expert has said.
In a recent interview with Xinhua, Marcos Pires, a professor of Political Economy at Sao Paulo State University, said that while the United states has continued to fuel geopolitical tensions and impose unilateral economic pressures — disrupting global industrial and supply chains — China’s steady economic performance has served as an “anchor of stability” for global development.

Trade with China helps Brazil maintain balance of payments stability and sustain a high level of international reserves, Pires said, adding that Brazil was relatively unaffected by the 2008 global financial crisis largely as of the strength of its trade with China.
On the future direction of bilateral cooperation, Pires believes Brazil should actively work with China to better integrate into global industrial chains and to advance joint projects in clean energy, electric mobility and lithium battery industries. He also called for accelerating mechanisms such as local currency settlement and digital connectivity.
