Turkish Airlines Soars: 51.2M Passengers Flown in Seven Months
Airline Reports Significant Growth in Passenger Numbers and Cargo Volume
Turkish Airlines has experienced a robust start to the year, transporting over 51 million passengers in the first seven months. This strong performance marks a notable increase from the previous year, underscoring the airline’s expanding global reach and operational efficiency.
Passenger Traffic Surges
Between January and July, the national flag carrier welcomed 51.2 million travelers. This figure represents a healthy 4.7% jump compared to the same period in 2024. The airline’s global load factor remained impressively high at 82.1%.
International routes saw particularly strong demand, with passenger numbers climbing by 9% to reach 19.6 million. The overall capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), also grew by 6.1%, expanding from 145.1 billion to 153.9 billion.
Cargo Operations Also Gain Altitude
Beyond passenger services, Turkish Airlines also saw a significant increase in its cargo operations. The volume of goods and mail transported rose by 4.4%, totaling 1.21 million tonnes. This growth in freight demonstrates the airline’s diverse service offerings.
July Sees Double-Digit Passenger Growth
The month of July alone was particularly strong, with a total of 9 million passengers choosing Turkish Airlines, an 8.4% increase year-over-year. International passenger traffic in July surged by 12.8%, indicating a strong rebound in global travel confidence.
The filling rate for international flights in July reached 84.8%, while domestic flights boasted an even higher load factor of 90.6%. This suggests robust demand across all segments of its network.
Globally, air passenger traffic has been recovering steadily. In the first quarter of 2025, international tourist arrivals were up 22% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Fleet Expansion Continues
By the end of July, Turkish Airlines’ fleet comprised 491 aircraft, reflecting its ongoing investment in expanding its capacity and modernizing its operations.
