Roger Federer Makes History with 1000th ATP Tour Win: Defeats Milos Raonic in Brisbane Final
It was a career highlight for one of the greatest tennis players in history. On January 11, 2015, Roger Federer won his 1000th match on the ATP Tour in the final in Brisbane. Federer won 6:4, 6:7 (2:7) and 6:4 against Milos Raonic from Canada. He was the better player against Raonic from the start and dictated almost the entire game, but gave up a break lead in the second set.
Federer was only the third player in the world to break this barrier, after Jimmy Connors, who has a total of 1,274 wins, and Ivan Lendl (1,086). Both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have now followed suit with 1066 and 1084 wins respectively (as of January 10, 2024).

Swimming in the Seine: Paris Fulfilling Olympic Promise and Creating Swimming Legacy
A promise made by Anne Hidalgo during Paris’ bid for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, swimming in the Seine is about to become a reality. This was stated by Marc Guillaume, prefect of Paris and รle-de-France, who is leading the bathing plan for the Games, recalling that it is also a commitment by the President of the Republic for the heritage of the Games.
During a progress report, organized on Tuesday at the prefecture, the prefect thus indicated that the water of the Seine will be “above the standards required by the IOC and the COJOP” for the triathlon events. and freestyle swimming which will take place between the Alexandre III bridge and the Alma bridge in the summer of 2024. โWe will be ready for the test events in the summer of 2023โ assured Marc Guillaume. Reference to the 4th stage of the Open Water Swimming World Cup from August 4 to 6, then to the triathlon and paratriathlon test event organized by Paris 2024 under the Alexandre III bridge from August 17 to 20.
The water tested every day during the events
This is the result of a vast plan launched in 2018 with individuals and communities to put an end to bacteriological pollution of the Seine and for which the State has invested 700 million euros out of a total of 1, 4 billion euros. Daily tests will be carried out during the events which will serve as a reference for the Games. In the event of heavy rain, a delay of one or two days may be decided for the events during the Olympic and Paralympic Games but not this summer for the test events due to their very short duration.
After the Games, in 2025, the legacy that everyone is talking about will result in the opening of three sites for swimming in the Seine or the Marne, then in around twenty municipalities until 2030. Delimitation of zones, days swimming pools determined, everything is far from settled and will be adjusted with the local authorities. “There is a strong expectation of Parisians (to swim)”, says Marc Guillaume. “The question after the Games will no longer be the quality of the water but the compatibility with the other activities on the Seine and the Marne”, he specifies.

“Australian Celeste Barber Dictates to the Body with Her Work”
The emergence of the phenomenon
In early 2015, struck by the heightened aesthetics of bodies on Instagram, Australian actress Celeste Barber launches a comic photo challenge with her sister: she decides to parody the poses of stars or influencers in โreal lifeโ mode. His pastiche of Kim Kardashian sticking her fishnet stockings on a mound of earth catches the eye of the Daily Mail, then that of Time Magazine. Since then, his publications have been followed by nearly 10 million fans.

51 million raised
In January 2020, the actress mobilized to help Australian firefighters, then on the front line in the face of the most devastating wave of fires ever experienced by the country. His Facebook video calling for donations allowed the online fundraiser to explode the initial goal of $30,000: in total, more than $51 million was raised and donated to the State of New South Wales, on the east coast of the country.
Sport, very little for her
Consecrated in one of Marie Claire Australian in February, Barber poses there with the paraphernalia of the trendy sportswoman: wetsuit, swimming goggles, state-of-the-art paddle, silk jogging and even gymnastic rings. The forties restores the truth in the interview: her main physical activity remains the morning outing of her dog, accompanied by a little yoga during the tours of her one-woman-show. A jump from time to time in the gyms of the hotels where she stays. “Sometimes just to sit on it!” ยป
Barber was consecrated on the cover of Australia’s “Marie Claire” last February.
His targets admire him
His โvictimsโ Cindy Crawford, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard, Jessica Alba or Sharon Stone are among his admirers. Some of its โtargetsโ nevertheless preferred to respond by blocking it on the networks. This is the case of the famous model Emily Ratajkowski, parodied as she poses in a bikini against a door. The legend signed Celeste Barber (โStop objectifying our bodies. Ah, by the way, here is my buttโ), which is ironic about the asserted feminism of the supermodel, has divided. A controversy quickly extinguished by the comedian, who recalled that it would always remain the most ridiculous in history.
Strikers cut power to the site of the future Olympic Village for the 2024 Games
The CGT union announced that it had cut the electricity at the Stade de France and on the site of the future Olympic village of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this Thursday to protest against the pension reform.
Cut to the Olympic village but ultimately not to the Stade de France
Enedis, however, denied a power cut at the Stade de France, indicating that the source post invaded by the protesters concerned the Olympic site as well as customers of the municipality of Saint-Denis but not the largest sports arena in the country. “The power line that supplies the Stade de France has not been cut”said a spokeswoman for Enedis.
On the other hand, it confirms that ” cuts “ in the commercial and residential area around the stadium were observed. In total more than 500 customers were deprived of electricity before power was quickly restored via remote maneuvers for most of them.
