Alianza Lima Appeals to TAS in dispute with Formerโค Coach Cristian Dรญaz
Lima, โคPeru – Alianza Lima, one of Peru’s most popular football clubs currently competing in the โคquarterfinals of the 2025 South American โฃCup, has taken its dispute with former technical director Cristian Dรญaz to the Court ofโข Arbitration for Sport (TAS).The move has surprised manyโ of the โclub’s supporters.
The case stems from events inโ the 2024 season,when Dรญaz was hiredโค mid-year but ultimately not retained. Dรญaz later โฃfiled a complaint with FIFA, which ruled in his favor,โ awarding him US $250,000.
Alianza Lima is now appealing to TAS seeking a “final agreement” (consensual award) with Dรญaz to avoid the โคfull financial sanction. Argentine sports lawyerโฃ Marceloโ Bee Sellarres confirmed the โclub’s โคaction, stating, “Alianza Lima works at the TAS to arrive at a final agreement (consensual award) with DT Cristian Diaz. Anteโ FIFA, the Argentine DT obtained a favorable resolution โfor โขUS $ 250,000.”
Cristian Dรญaz’s agent, Ulises Guallanez, detailed the situation โฃin an interviewโ with Radioโ ovaciรณn, alleging thatโ Alianza Lima provided explanations โฃfor an agreement they later refused to honor for the 2024 season.Guallanez stated, “This issue โis not personal, โther are no โขbad intentions, there is no teaching, but it is a matter of enforcing what was signed. There was breach of not putting it into operation and for the negligence of everything experienced, for having made โhim give up in a club were he was comfortable and not giving him the functions that the agreement that both parties had. After โขthe firm, after three days a lawyerโฃ with the power โof alliance. greater, that they coudl โคnot defend the physical integrity of the coach, who were not given security and a lot of โฃthings, as if the country would be in anโค extremely serious state, pure ‘paved’ that โคhad nothing to do with the decision they had made.”
