Jet Ski Operator Sentencedโฃ to โขOne Year inโ Death โof โChild on Egypt‘s North Coast
Burj Al โขArab, Egypt – โข an โฃEgyptian โฃcourt sentenced โM.D.,โ a cosmeticsโ industry professional, toโข one year in prison today,โ Tuesday, in connection wiht the death โof โขeight-year-old Adam Mutawa in a jet ski accident on Egypt’s โNorth Coast. The Alamin Misdemeanor Court also referred a related civil lawsuit โto โthe appropriateโ department, according to reports from Youm7.
Theโข Public Prosecution charged M.D. with causing the โdeath of Adam โand injuring three other children.The โฃcaseโ gained significant mediaโ attentionโข in Egypt, โฃbecoming known asโค the “Jet Ski” incident.
The decision to present the accused for examination followed a complaint filed by Ibrahim Draz, lawyer for the Mutawa family, regarding a previous unfulfilledโ order โfor a medical evaluation at Al-Alamein hospital.
Investigations revealed thatโ on july 18th, the defendant was operating aโ jet ski at a dangerous speed within โa designated marine recreation areaโ at โaโค North Coast tourist village. This resulted in a โขcollision with โanother jet ski towing a rubber sofa, โขleading toโ Adam’s death and injuries to three โother โchildren.Authorities have impounded both jet skisโค and the rubber sofa as evidence.โข The Public Prosecution hasโ also commissioned a technical committeeโ from the Marine Safety Authority to assess the vehicles’ safety and suitability for use in the entertainment zone.
