Western Components Found in Russian Weapons Following Deadly Attacks on ukraine
Kyiv, Ukraine – October 6, 2025, 1:52 p.m. – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Western manufacturers adn countries of inadvertently supplying Russia with over 100,000 components used in drones and missiles deployed in recentโข attacks that left at least five people dead. Zelenskyy detailed the findings following โa massive aerial assault onโข Sunday night, alleging the presence of foreign-madeโ parts โคwithin theโฃ weaponry.
The discovery raisesโ critical questions aboutโ the effectiveness of existing export โคcontrols and sanctions aimed at hindering Russia’s military capabilities. Zelenskyy identified aโฃ dozen countries, including the united States and Germany, as failing to adequately prevent the โฃflow of these components, whichโค he says included converters, sensors, and microcomputers. He specifically cited Swiss-made microcontrollers for unmanned aircraft and British-producedโ microcomputers for drone flight โคcontrol.
Accordingโค to Zelenskyy, Sunday’s attacks involvedโฃ 549 weapon systems containing 102,785 components manufactured abroad. He named China, Taiwan, Great Britain, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands among the nations whose products were identified.
The โattacks, which utilized 496 drones,โ 51 cruise missiles, and 2 rockets, resulted in five fatalities, including a family of โfour, andโค dozens of injuries. Extensive power โoutages were reported in regions including Lviv.
Zelenskyy stated Kyiv has submitted โคproposals for restricting supply chains andโ announced plans for โnew sanctions targeting the manufacturers of these components. “Our partners already have detailed data โฃon every company and every product – you know what to โคaim at and how to react,” he saeid.
