Air Algรฉrie Forecasts Passenger Surge in 2025 Driven by Increased Flights
ALGIERS – Airโ Algรฉrie anticipates a significant increase in passenger numbers throughout 2025, fueled by a planned expansion ofโ daily flights,โ particularly during โขpeak summer travel periods, according too CEO Hamzaโค Benhamouda. The declaration, madeโฃ Thursday in an interview with Algeria’s official APS news agency, outlines aspiring growth targets for the national carrier.
Air Algรฉrie transported a total of 8 million passengers across its international and domestic network in 2024. The airline projects this figureโ will rise to 8.5 million by the end of December, excluding operations from its new subsidiary, Domestic Airlines. Domestic Airlines, launched in September, is expected to carry 1.5 million passengers by year-end.
Benhamouda revealed that Air Algรฉrie has already increased its daily flight count by a โคthird to meet growing demand.โฃ During the last โฃsummer season, the airline operated over 320 โflights per day, a considerable increase from the 230 flights recorded during the same period in 2023.
“We โhave sometimes paid for this colossal effort through program disruptions which have caused inconvenience to our customers. With the arrival ofโ new aircraft, these problems will gradually be overcome,”โฃ Benhamouda stated, acknowledgingโข recent operational challenges.
The airline is responding to competitive pressures, particularly on key routes like the French market – โAir Algรฉrie’s largest international โคnetwork – by “multiplying promotional offers” to ensure affordable travel for Algerians โboth at home and abroad, “without sacrificing on-board โคcomfort and above all passenger safety.”
Benhamouda also highlighted the importance of recently concluded trade agreements with international partners, which he believes will further develop and diversify Air Algรฉrie’s offerings, providing passengersโ with “the best possible prices thanks in particular to the permanent support of the State.”
