Democratic Party Chairman AHY Accuses Previous Coalition of Disrespecting Ethical Values

Chairman of the Party Democrat Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (ME) said he now supports Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka because they were treated badly by the previous coalition.

“This happened because of the treatment of the Democratic Party which really does not respect proper moral and ethical values,” said AHY during a speech on the theme of Welfare for All at the El Royale Hotel, Bandung, West Java, broadcast by CNN Indonesia, Friday (12/11 ).

Before supporting Prabowo-Gibran, the Democrats were the party supporting Anies Baswedan along with PKS and NasDem. Then he decided to leave after Anies and NasDem collaborated with PKB and made Muhaimin Iskandar his vice presidential candidate.

AHY believes the public knows and understands why the Democrats are now supporting Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election.

AHY also doesn’t want to drag on thinking about it. It is better to focus on facing the 2024 elections so that the Democratic Party can optimally fight for the agenda of change and improvement.

He said Democrats also agree to continue good policies.

“As well as continuing the good things, we can still do it in our new place,” said AHY.

He believes that the Democratic agenda in the next five years can still be implemented even if there are no cadres to become presidential and vice presidential candidates.

AHY admitted that he had entrusted the Democratic agenda to Prabowo Subianto as the presidential candidate they supported in the 2024 presidential election.

“In principle, Pak Prabowo embodies the thoughts of the Democratic Party, to carry out an agenda for change and improvement, while continuing things that are already good,” said AHY.

In the 2024 presidential election, the Democrats are joining the Advanced Indonesia Coalition with Gerindra, Golkar, PBB, PAN, Gelora, Garuda and PSI.

The Forward Indonesia Coalition is nominating Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming as presidential and vice-presidential candidates. They got serial number 2.

Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono Disputes Low Survey Results for Democratic Party in 2024 Election

Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said he did not believe the survey results which ranked Democrats as low in electability 2024 Election. AHY said the Democrats had an internal survey.

“I don’t really believe that. We also have our own survey. We don’t really believe that it seems to lower our enthusiasm,” AHY told reporters after attending the South Sulawesi Democrat consolidation in Makassar, as reported detikSulselSaturday (30/12/2023).

AHY believes that the electability of Democrats remains high in society even though they must continue to struggle to achieve maximum results. He is optimistic that the Democrats’ national target in the 2024 elections will be achieved.

“We still have confidence, but we also never feel satisfied. What is clear is that we have achievement targets which we measure from time to time through surveys. God willing, the Democrats will achieve their goals,” he said.

Especially for South Sulawesi, AHY wants to get even more votes than in the 2019 elections. He is targeting electoral districts (Dapil) where Democrat seats have been vacant so far to be filled in the 2024 elections.

“In South Sulawesi, of course we want to get an even bigger vote. Increase the number of seats, fill all electoral districts. At least there will be a DPR RI from each electoral district 1, 2 and 3. Thank goodness there is the potential for more than one seat,” explained AHY.

Prabowo Subianto’s Statement Explained by AHY: Emphasizing Democratic Participation in 2024 Election

Deputy Chair of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) Steering Committee, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (ME), explaining the presidential candidate’s statement number 2, Prabowo Subianto, who said that if someone is tempted by money, just accept it, but still choose according to your conscience. AHY said that Prabowo’s statement must be seen in its full context.

“I think maybe it should be seen from the full context. Pak Prabowo only emphasized that democracy belongs to all the people,” said AHY after the event supporting the Indonesian Chinese Alliance with Prabowo at Mangga Dua Square, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/12/2023).

AHY said Prabowo conveyed to the public that the 2024 election was a democratic party belonging to the people. That way, he said, Prabowo hopes that people will use their voting rights as well as possible.

“On February 14, all citizens will become the rulers of this country. This means that with one person, one vote, it is hoped that they can truly participate directly in the future of the nation through elections,” said AHY.

The General Chair of the Democratic Party does not view Prabowo as advocating money politics.

Previously, Prabowo spoke about the existence of parties who offered the promise of money during the election stages.

“Brothers, there are conditions for us to go there. One, the people must be smart and brave in choosing the right leaders and representatives,” said Prabowo when giving a speech at the ‘Gema PS’ declaration of support in Blitar, East Java, Sunday ( 12/17).

Prabowo believes that there is no problem with society accepting the lure of money. However, he emphasized that the public must be responsible for their right to vote in the 2024 presidential election.

“Later, don’t, there will come someone who will be lured by this, lured by that. If someone is lured by you, just accept the lure, right,” said Prabowo.

“If someone is lured by money, just accept it, it’s all your money, the people’s own money, right? There’s no need to be too grateful. But choose according to your conscience, brothers and sisters,” he added.

Chairman of the Democrats Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (ME) uploaded agricultural issues on his social media account, last Monday (23/10).

The upload was also considered to be related to the discourse on reform (reshuffle) the Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Ma’ruf Amin government cabinet which is strengthening again this week.

“Don’t forget to always consume our local agricultural products, one of which is the superior product from East Java, namely Malang apples,” wrote AHY on his Instagram account which was viewed on Tuesday (24/10) afternoon.

“Our agriculture is one of the sectors that we need to build and push to rise and progress,” he added.

AHY also said that his party – the Democrats – would continue to encourage guaranteed availability of fertilizer, the presence of innovation, technology and human resources in the agricultural sector.

“So that we can become more independent and productive, especially in providing food availability,” said the eldest son of the sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

It is known that currently the definitive position of Minister of Agriculture is vacant after NasDem politician Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) resigned. Later, SYL was named a suspect in alleged corruption within the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) by the Corruption Eradication Commission.

Wali Kota Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka reportedly visited the residence of the General Chair of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (ME) on Sunday (22/10) morning.

According to monitoring detikcomGibran was seen getting out of a black Innova car in front of AHY’s residence on Jalan Prapanca Raya Number 10, South Jakarta, at around 08.22 WIB.

Gibran’s arrival took place amidst growing rumors that he would be nominated as Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

Gibran was seen getting out of the car and immediately greeting AHY. Gibran is seen wearing a golden brown batik shirt.

Meanwhile, AHY was seen wearing moss green clothes typical of soldiers. When shaking hands, there was a little conversation between the two of them until they went straight into the house.

Previously, the Chairman of the High Council of the Democratic Party, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), responded to information that Gibran wanted to meet him. SBY said there was a possibility that the meeting would discuss Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

“I’ve been in Central Java for the past three days. I received information that Mas Gibran wants to meet me and AHY (Ketum Democrat). Maybe it’s related to Mas Gibran’s candidacy as vice presidential candidate,” wrote SBY in his X account, Sunday (22/10).

Meanwhile, Gibran’s father who is also the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, gave his blessing to Gibran if he was truly appointed as Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate.

“Yes, the parents’ only job is to pray and approve,” said Jokowi after attending the 2023 National Santri Day rally at the Heroes Monument, Surabaya, Sunday (22/10).

Jokowi said that Gibran was an adult and he had no right to interfere in his child’s affairs.

“Everyone’s decisions are mature, don’t interfere too much in matters that have been decided by our children,” said Jokowi.

Currently, the coalition parties supporting Prabowo are Gerindra, Golkar, PAN, Democrat, PBB, Gelora and Garuda.

The presidential candidate of the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP) Anies Baswedan attended a shadow puppet show at the DPP PKS, South Jakarta this evening. Apart from Anies, the chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) also appeared to be present.

detikcom’s monitoring at the PKS DPP, Jalan TB Simatupang, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Anies has been at the location since 19.15 WIB. You can see the ranks of PKS officials there, such as PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu, MPR Deputy Chairperson Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW), PKS Spokesperson Muhammad Iqbal and Pipin Sopian.
