“Peter Hujar‘s Day” Expands International Reach wiht Multiple Territory Sales
“Peter Hujar’s day,” the critically acclaimed film that premiered at Sundance and the berlinale, has secured distribution deals โinโ a wide range of international territories.Films Boutique is handling โฃinternational sales for the project, building on previously announced acquisitions by Janus โfilms โforโ North America and Picturehouse โEntertainment for the U.K. and Ireland, where the film opened November 7 at Lincoln Center and Film Forum.
The film, written and directed by Ira Sachs (“Passages,” “Keep theโฃ Lights On,” “Love Is Strange”), offers a rare glimpse intoโ the lifeโข of photographer Peter Hujar, โwhoโ gainedโข posthumous recognition for his work. โSet over 24 hours in December 1974, the film centers on a recorded conversation between Hujar (Ben Whishaw) and his freind, writer Linda Rosenkrantz (Rebecca Hall). These sales signal growing international interest inโข Hujar’s story โand Sachs’s intimate portrayal of a pivotal moment inโ art history.

“Peter Hujar’s Day” has been lauded by critics, with Variety’s Owenโค Gleiberman calling it a “magical (โฆ) time capsule of a โmovie.” The film is produced by Jordan Drake and Jonah Disend, alongside Berlin-based One Two Films, with Fred burle andโ Aaron Craig co-producing.
