indonesia’s Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) has completed the release of previously blocked “idle” accounts following investigations into illicit financial activity, according to PPATK head Ivan Yustiavansyah. The process of releasing these accounts, initiated in May 2025, has now been finalized, with accounts returned to their respective banking institutions.
“We have released all of these accounts today, and we’ve returned them to the banks. The process is complete,” Yustiavansyah stated.
The reactivated accounts are subject to updated customer verification procedures, including Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), as mandated by financial regulations. The initial blocking of these accounts stemmed from evidence of their misuse in facilitating criminal activities, encompassing account trading, hacking, the use of nominee accounts for illicit purposes, narcotics transactions, and corruption.
PPATK previously froze the accounts to investigate a surge in suspicious transactions. The agency assures customers that funds held in blocked accounts remained secure throughout the inquiry. The crackdown targeted accounts exhibiting prolonged inactivity coupled with unusual transaction patterns.
Yustiavansyah reported a meaningful decline in online gambling (judol) deposit transactions following the account freeze. Deposits plummeted from Rp. 5 trillion to Rp. 1 trillion, representing a decrease of approximately 80%.
“When the accounts were frozen, judol deposits experienced a sharp decline, falling by over 70 percent from more than Rp 5 trillion to just over Rp 1 trillion,” Yustiavansyah explained to reporters on Thursday, July 31st.
He further clarified that the reduction in transaction volume indicates a substantial decrease in free judol deposit activity.
“The trend in the number of judol deposit transactions has also decreased after we froze the idle accounts. these are all positive results, benefiting both Asta Cita and Indonesia Gold,” yustiavansyah added.
