Steinkjer: Police Investigate Two Deaths, one Person Charged
Steinkjer, Norway – Trรธndelag police are investigating tehโค deaths of two individuals – a man in his 60s and a personโค in their 20s โ- in Steinkjer, and have charged one person in connection โwithโข the cases.
Police โwereโฃ initially notified of a possibleโข overdose late Wednesdayโฃ nightโฃ at an address inโค Steinkjer. The man in his 60s was pronounced dead โlater that evening.โ This death is being investigatedโข in relation to the death of a personโข in their 20s on september 10th.
A man residing with the 20-year-old โhas been charged. Police confirm โthis isโ the same individual โขfound dead Wednesday night. The charged individual is also facing accusations of โฃpossession and distribution of drugs, specifically a substance suspected to have been taken by both deceased individuals.
“We are โคinvestigating the โคdeaths based on several theories, but emphasize that so far there is no indication that there is โsomething criminal behind it,” stated prosecutor Silje Valstad in a press release. “At theโฃ same time, we are worried that there may be extra dangerous drugs in circulation.”
Police have seized โa โขwhite, amphetamine-like powder from both locations,โค believed to be a narcotic substance.
valstad โฃreiterated the police’s general โwarning โagainst all illicit drugs andโ those not prescribed โby a physician. โ”We do not yet know without a doubt what โhas caused these twoโฃ deaths, but we will still particularly warn the intoxicating environment that there can be extra dangerous or strong substance in circulation.”
Identities โฃof the deceased have been released to next of kin.
