Mumbai onโค High Alert Following Threat of Attack by ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi’
Mumbai, September โข26, 2023 – Mumbai is on high alert after a threat issued by an organization identifying itself as Lashkar-e-Jihadi, claiming plans to deployโ 34โ vehicles carrying explosivesโฃ and โoperatives toโข detonate 400 kg of RDX within the โฃcity. โMumbai Police โขstated the โคthreat was received on the eve โขof Anant Chaturdashi, marking the conclusion of the Ganesh Chaturthi โfestival.
According โto police, the threat message alleges the planned attacks would result โin the deaths of one crore peopel. security measures โhave been substantially enhanced across the state inโข response.
The threat emerges as the immersion โค(visarjan) of Lord Ganesh idols โcommenced on Friday, with hundreds of thousands of people participating in the processions and gatherings at immersion sites like Girgaon Chowpatty.
This โincident follows a series of recent โคsecurity alerts โin Maharashtra.Onโฃ Monday, a 43-year-old man, Rupesh โMadhukar Ranpise, was arrested โฃin Thane district โฃfor allegedly makingโฃ a hoax bomb threat call regarding โฃKalwa railway station. โ
Earlier in August, theโ ISKCON โขTemple inโข Girgaon, south mumbai,โ received a bomb threat email, which proved to โbe aโฃ hoax โฃafter a โฃcomprehensive search by policeโค and the bomb Detection and Disposal squad (BDDS). The temple had received a similar threat in September of โthe previous year. โ
on July 25,mumbai โPoliceโฃ received a โbomb threat call concerning โTerminal 2 ofโข Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj โInternational โAirport (CSMIA),but โฃa thorough search yielded noโฃ evidence of any threat.
