Omaha Family’s Passion for Mavericks Hockey Celebrates Community & Team Spirit
OMAHA, NE – June 30, 2025 – A Papillion, Nebraska family’s devotion to teh Omaha Mavericks hockey team has manifested in a unique and vibrant way: commissioning custom murals in both of their homes celebrating the team [[1]]. Brent Bean and his wife, Alexis Sharkey, have been dedicated fans as their days as students at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) when Baxter Arena opened in 2015.
Their fandom extends far beyond simply attending games – they’ve held season passes for a decade, worked in player parking, and fostered relationships wiht players, becoming deeply embedded in the Mavericks hockey community. Bean recalls being introduced to the sport through affordable tickets at a local grocery store, sparking a lifelong passion.
“I don’t know what clicked but it was just something so awesome,” Bean stated.
The couple emphasizes the strong sense of community fostered by the team and its fans as a key reason for their continued support. Sharkey highlighted the team’s genuine friendliness and investment in connecting with fans.
“There’s so much community connection with the team,” Bean added.
