Body Camera Footage Released in Fatal โShooting of Pregnant Woman atโ Houston Homelessโฃ Encampment
HOUSTON, TX – Newly released bodyโค camera video depicts the chaotic moments surrounding the October 16th shooting at a homelessโ encampment behind a Harwin strip mall that left โa pregnant woman dead and two others injured. Theโค footage,โข obtained โขby Eyewitness News, โขprovides a visual account of the incident โขand theโข immediate aftermath, as an officer responding โtoโ the scene discharged their weapon.
The shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. when an โargument escalated into gunfire. Pashinae Drumgo, who wasโ pregnant, โขsuccumbedโ to injuries sustained from a gunshot wound to her lower back and leg hours later. Two men were also shot – one in the ankle, โthe other in the โleg – โคand โboth survived. The release of the โฃvideo comes as the examinationโ continues and questions โฃremain regarding chargesโ in Drumgo’s death.
Surveillance video and body โcamera footage โคshow a man, identified by police as Ronnie Mitchell, opening fireโ intoโฃ a crowd. Men and women scattered as the officer, who was โคconducting โคan unrelated traffic โstop nearby, firedโค approximately six shots in the direction of the initial gunfire. Policeโ confirmed the officer’s โฃbullets did not strike anyone.
Mitchell โwas apprehended minutes afterโข the shooting at a nearby Whataburgerโข and has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weaponโ for โคthe injuriesโค sustainedโฃ by the two surviving men. However, as of late last month, โคno charges had beenโ filed in connection with Drumgo’s murder, though police stated at the time that charges โฃwere expected.
