HOUSTON,โข Texas – A Houston lawyer โwho previously โpleaded guilty to spiking his ex-wife’s drink with anโข abortion โdrug has been sentenced to eight years in prison after violating his probation, according to court documents filed Monday. Mason Herring, 34, wasโฃ originally sentenced to 10 years of probationโค in 2024 for the 2022 incident.
Herring admitted to administering Misoprostolโ to โคhis then-wife, Catherine herring, causingโฃ her toโ deliver โคtheirโค child 10 weeks prematurely. The couple divorced in 2022. He pleaded guiltyโ toโ charges of injury to a child under 15, โbodily injury, adn assault of a pregnant person. This case garneredโ important attention,โข raising concernsโ about reproductive coercion and domestic violence.
Theโข prison sentence stems โfrom twoโค separate violations of a protective order โคwithin a 12-month period. Recordsโ indicateโ theโค violations โoccurred during โคsupervised visits with his three children, including the daughter impacted by the drug.
Herring’s initialโฃ plea deal allowed him โฃto avoid prison time, but the repeated breaches โof the protective order led a judge โคtoโฃ revoke his probation and impose the eight-yearโข sentence.
