Santa Fe Musician Launches patreon to โShare Creative Process, Expands โข”Storming the Beaches” World
Santa โขFe,โข NM โ- Local musician and Bernlore production company founder, Carr,โข is shifting his artistic approachโ with the upcomingโข launch of a โขPatreon platform designed to foster collaboration and offer fans a glimpse into his creative process. The move represents a โdeparture from previous periods ofโ isolated work, embracing what โคCarr โterms “demo culture” and โa more open, participatoryโ approach to hisโ ongoing musical project, “Storming the Beaches.”
Carr, who started Bernlore in 2019, explained he used to subscribe to the “artist clichรฉ” of โฃdisappearing to createโ in solitude.”I used to feel thatโข kind of artist clichรฉ,” โhe admits.โ “It’s like, โI’m โgoing to hide for a while, I’m going toโ makeโข something, thenโค I’m going to comeโข out and show it.” โข
Now, he’s drawn to the rawness of early recordings. “You know, back when you heard demos of bands? Those are alwaysโข my favorites,” Carr says, seeing this asโ a counterpoint to the โค”unrelenting pressure for polished perfection” on socialโ media.”I’m much more interested in opening up my process and sharing that with people.”
The Patreonโ platform will be โbuilt around participation, aligning with Bernlore’s business model of balancing client workโ with original content creation. While โขCarr maintains a presence on instagram,โค heโ findsโข it limiting. “I do useโค social mediaโฆbut it’s not really somewhere that I feel comfortable opening up too much,” he stated.
Musically,โฃ Carr describes โhis current work as more โfocused and nuanced. “I feel like the gray areas and complexities of life are clearer to me,” heโฃ says, hoping thisโ translates to “more minimalism, more clarity” in his music.
The new material expands the narrative world of “Storming the Beaches,” moving beyond the previously โexplored “Southwick” territories โto focus on the โnortheast, drawing inspiration from theโ Battle of Glorieta and the area around Pueblo, which Carr โrefers to as “the Pittsburghโ of the West.” santa โFe, โคhowever, remains central to the project’s mythology. “Santa Fe is โฃthe hub of all โขthese stories,” he said, adding, “The history of this town is fucking incredible.” He alsoโฃ hinted at plans to incorporate more mapping elements into the project.
Carr views this moment not as aโ culmination, but as a startingโฃ point. His evolution from a more solitaryโค approach to one โof open collaboration and process-sharing signals a โmeaningfulโ shift for the longtimeโข Santaโฃ Fe music scene artist. “His move from spectacle to โขsubstance, from hiding to openly sharing the process, points toโฃ growth that โคcould make whatever comesโข next worth watching,”โ the article concludes, highlighting Carr’s commitment to authenticity in an increasingly algorithm-driven landscape.
