Ho Chi Minh City police have arrested the owner and two associates of an unlicensed beauty clinic accused of performing illegal liposuction procedures on over 500 clients, generating approximately VND10 billion (US$380,000) in illicit profits this year.
Nguyen Thi โฃhuong, โฃ32, proprietor of “Ho.pital SW” โฃlocatedโค on Cao Thangโข Street, was taken into custody alongsideโ Nguyen Minh Khai โand Duong Tan Long on Friday, according to investigators. The case highlights โฃthe risksโ associatedโ with unregulated cosmetic โฃsurgery inโ Vietnam and underscores growingโ concerns about patient safety and deceptive marketing practices โคwithin the country’s booming beauty industry. Authorities are urging anyone who received liposuction at the clinic to โขfile โคa complaint.
The examination revealed thatโฃ despite โขoperating without the necessary medical licenses, Ho.pital SW aggressively marketed professional fat-removalโ services. Police allege Khai, whoโ lacks a surgical license, performed the liposuction procedures โwhile long โขmanaged theโ clinic’s marketing, including creating misleading advertisements featuring fabricatedโ testimonialsโ and employing individuals to pose as satisfied customers on social media.
The clinic is accused ofโ deceivingโ customers into believing qualified surgeons wereโค performing the procedures. Police have initiatedโ a call for individuals who underwent liposuction at Ho.pital SW to come forward and report their experiences to the city police investigation office.
