The advisory comes after U.S. President Donald Trump indicated his administration is considering a “limited attack” on Iran, responding to stalled nuclear negotiations. Speaking to reporters on February 20th, Trump stated, “I could notice that happening,” when asked about a potential military strike, according to reports cited by the embassy.
Seoul has already issued a Level 3 travel advisory – its highest level – for all regions of Iran, recommending against all travel. The embassy urged South Korean nationals already in Iran to depart unless their presence is essential, and to cancel or postpone any planned trips. “If the situation worsens rapidly, commercial flights may be suspended, so we recommend departing even as available flights are still operating,” the embassy stated in its announcement.
The warning reflects growing regional anxieties. Reports indicate that Iran has also issued warnings regarding potential retaliation for any U.S. Aggression.
