UK Consulate Area: New Nurse & Practical Nurse Jobs – JobMedley

by Emma Walker – News Editor February 21, 2026
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Two new nursing positions have been listed in the vicinity of the former British Consulate in Hakodate, Hokkaido, according to job listings posted on JobMeDley. The openings, announced on February 21, 2026, are for registered and licensed practical nurses at the Soel Garden Hakodate Minami facility, which is slated to open in March 2027.

The Soel Garden Hakodate Minami, part of the Daito Kentaku Group, is seeking a nursing manager with at least one year of experience in visiting nursing. The position offers a monthly salary ranging from 432,500 to 447,500 yen. Responsibilities include contract management, recruitment, staff labor management, shift scheduling, route planning for visiting nurses, managing records, participating in care conferences, handling insurance claims, coordinating with visiting physicians and pharmacies, and administrative tasks. The role may also require direct patient care during home visits.

According to the JobMeDley listing, the facility offers comprehensive social insurance, commuter benefits, more than 120 days of annual leave, bonuses, and transportation allowances. The location is within a five-minute walk of the Yachihodo and Aoyagi-machi stations on the Hakodate streetcar line, and a fourteen-minute walk from the Horaimachi station.

The demand for nurses in the United Kingdom is high, prompting some Japanese nurses to seek employment abroad. However, becoming a registered nurse in the UK requires demonstrating English language proficiency through tests like IELTS or OET, registering with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and passing a Computer Based Test (CBT) and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), as outlined by Nursing Oversea and Aya-NurseJob. The IELTS requires a score of at least 7.0 in each section and an overall score of 7.0, while the OET requires a grade of B or higher in each section.

The NMC manages the registration of nurses and midwives in the UK. Applicants must submit proof of their Japanese nursing license, academic credentials, and English language proficiency. The CBT assesses fundamental nursing knowledge, while the OSCE evaluates clinical skills through simulated scenarios.
