Egyptian actress Mai Omar has issued an apology in anticipation of a particularly emotionally challenging episode of her latest Ramadan drama, “Al-Set Mona Lisa.” The actress preemptively acknowledged the difficult scenes in episode seven, signaling a potentially upsetting turn in the narrative.

The series, currently airing on MBC Egypt and streaming on Shahid, has already captivated audiences with its unfolding story of a divorced woman navigating societal judgment and economic hardship. Episode five, which aired Monday, depicted a harrowing encounter for Mona Lisa, played by Omar, with a restaurant owner who attempted to assault her. She subsequently filed a police report, supported by testimony from colleagues, according to reports.

The episode concluded with a dramatic development: Hassan stealing funds Mona Lisa had received from Ebtisam. This act, described as a further exploitation of Mona Lisa, sets the stage for a confrontation in upcoming episodes.

“Al-Set Mona Lisa” stars Mai Omar alongside Ahmed Magdy, Shaimaa Seif, Jouri Bakr, Mohamed Mahmoud, Sوسن بدر and Injy Al-Mokaddem. The drama is being touted as a significant production for Ramadan 2026, focusing on themes of female empowerment and the challenges faced by divorced women in Arab society. The series airs at 10:00 PM local time.

The production marks a departure for Omar, representing her first major dramatic role without the direction of her husband, Mohamed Sami. She has described the series as a deeply moving work intended to resonate with audiences, according to a report in Hiya Magazine.
