Swiss HPC-AI Conference 2024: Locarno to Host 17th Event | HPCwire

Locarno, Switzerland will host the 17th Swiss Conference on High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence (HPC-AI) this year, the HPC-AI Advisory Council and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) announced Wednesday.

The conference, a key event for experts in the field, will capture place at the Lakeside convention center in Locarno, according to the announcement. Details regarding specific sessions and speakers were not immediately available.

The announcement comes amid increased investment in both high-performance computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure globally. CIQ and AMD recently announced a collaboration to deliver optimized enterprise AI and HPC infrastructure, signaling a growing demand for specialized computing solutions. Similarly, Vertiv is expanding its Americas manufacturing capacity with four new facilities dedicated to AI data center infrastructure, responding to the escalating needs of the sector.

Expansion of AI data center capacity is also underway in Nevada, where Crusoe and Redwood Materials are deploying 24 modular units. This expansion highlights the increasing demand for physical infrastructure to support the computational requirements of artificial intelligence applications.

The Swiss conference is expected to draw attendees from academia, research institutions, and industry, focusing on the latest advancements and challenges in HPC and AI.
