Swiss Home: Modern Craft Meets Gommer Tradition
A family in Reckingen, Switzerland, has completed construction of a modern wooden house that blends contemporary design with traditional building techniques from the Gommer region of Wallis. The home, built for Carole and Daniel Buri, showcases a deliberate integration of modern craftsmanship and local heritage.
The Buris collaborated with architect Roman Hutter on the project. According to Daniel Buri, the decision to operate with Hutter was a swift one for the couple. The location of the build was likewise influenced by family proximity; Carole Buri’s parents reside nearby.
Daniel Buri is a qualified Holzbau (wood construction) technician, holding a diploma from a Swiss higher technical school. He operates Buri Planung & Bau, based in Fahrwangen, offering planning and construction services. His company can be reached at +41 77 464 70 03 or via email at [email protected].
The house itself is described as a significant example of modern wood construction in the Wallis region, demonstrating a commitment to both innovative architecture and established building traditions.
