Swim Safe Europe Conference 2025: Baku,Azerbaijan – Details Released
European Aquatics has announced details for the Swim Safe Europe Annual Conference 2025,too be held in Baku,Azerbaijan on November 28-29. This two-day event is part of a growing partnership with Azerbaijani institutions, formalized through a recent Memorandum of Understanding aimed at bolstering educational and social aquatic projects within the country.
The conference will take place at the Badamdar Hotel and Residence, offering both in-person and online participation via professional streaming through the European Aquatics Education Digital Platform (pending sufficient online registration).
Focus & Program:
The conference will bring together leaders, academics, coaches, and industry professionals to address key areas in aquatic safety, including:
* Learn-to-swim policy
* Drowning prevention
* Youth retention in aquatics
* Integrating innovation into teaching and practise
the program features:
* Day 1: Capacity building and sharing triumphant initiatives.
* Day 2: Scientific dialog, federation collaboration, and partnership development.
* Special features: An Ambassadors’ Panel and a roundtable discussion on the AquaSafe Kids Project, focusing on translating research into practical applications.
Confirmed speakers include European Aquatics President António Silva, alongside prominent practitioners and federation representatives. Further speaker announcements will follow.

* Registration: Mandatory through the European Aquatics Official Learning Center.
* Deadline: November 20, 2025.
* Options: Ticket and accommodation packages are available for those staying at the official hotel, as well as options for attendees without accommodation.
* Exhibition Opportunities: Companies and organizations are invited to exhibit and showcase relevant products, services, and research.
Call for Abstracts:
Researchers and practitioners are encouraged to submit abstracts (500-750 words in English, docx format, using the official template) by October 17, 2025.Notification of peer-review decisions will be sent by October 27, 2025. Accepted authors will receive a reduced registration fee and will be included in the final program and book of abstracts. Topics of interest include pre-school and school swimming, aquatic literacy, inclusion, medical considerations, and the use of technology in swim education.
Why Baku?
Baku was selected as the host city to strengthen collaboration between European aquatics, the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation, Azerbaijan Medical University, and the Azerbaijan Sports Academy. This partnership aims to integrate Swim Safe Europe initiatives into national strategies.
This conference builds on existing learn-to-swim efforts across Europe and provides a crucial platform for sharing best practices, forging partnerships, and advancing aquatic safety and accessibility for all.
