Sweeney Todd Review: Harrington Theatre Arts – March 2026 & Caleb Hearon Visit
The Harrington Theatre Arts Company (HTAC) concluded a four-present run of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd” on November 18, according to a review published by the University of Delaware’s UDReview. The production, which opened November 13 in Pearson Hall Auditorium, featured students from the Harrington Theatre Arts Company.
The musical, based on the 1973 play by Christopher Bond, tells the story of Sweeney Todd, a barber returning to Fleet Street seeking revenge after a wrongful imprisonment. The HTAC production highlighted the roles of Sweeney Todd, Mrs. Lovett, and the Beggar Woman, as noted in a Facebook post from the company.
A recent production of “Sweeney Todd” by Find Your Light Mental Wellness, also a Harrington Theatre Company initiative, ran from November 20 to November 23, 2025. Stacy DeBord, the musical director for the Find Your Light production, described the musical as “a beast” and expressed gratitude for the dedication of the actors and the broader community involved in bringing the story to life.
The production program credits music and lyrics to Stephen Sondheim and the book to Hugh Wheeler, adapted from the operate of Christopher Bond. The original Broadway production was directed by Harold Prince, with orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. HTAC’s performance was presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), which supplied all authorized performance materials.
HTAC is currently promoting ticket sales for future events and can be contacted at [email protected]. The company’s address is 325 Academy Street, Newark, DE, 19716. They can also be followed on Instagram at @htactheatre.
