Victor Lindelöf‘s Wife Criticizes Viaplay Over World Cup Qualifier Broadcast
Stockholm, Sweden – Maja nilsson Lindelöf, wife of Swedish national team player Victor Nilsson Lindelöf, has publicly expressed frustration with Viaplay’s broadcasting of the World Cup qualifier between Sweden and Switzerland on Friday night. Nilsson Lindelöf discovered the match would be shown exclusively on Viaplay Sport, a channel she does not subscribe to, preventing her and her children from watching from home.
“I was really so provoked for this with where the match is broadcast. How can you send a World Cup qualifier without the whole of Sweden seeing it? It’s idiocy or?” she stated.
Nilsson Lindelöf also encountered difficulties attempting to purchase a subscription, noting Viaplay does not accept foreign credit cards and account sharing is prohibited. She questioned the necessity of purchasing a separate account for 700 SEK simply to view a single match, calling it “totally unreasonable” and arguing that such games should be available on traditional television channels.
Viaplay’s press manager, Susanne Nylén, responded to the criticism, asserting that the match is accessible to all Swedish viewers through both Viaplay’s streaming service and the linear TV channel Viaplay Sport. Nylén highlighted the platform’s broad reach, citing a million-person audience during the European Championships earlier this year. She explained that access to Viaplay Sport is included in most TV packages, accept for Tele2 customers who require a total package.
Regarding the restrictions on foreign cards and account sharing, Nylén stated that geographical limitations are standard practice in the streaming industry to protect broadcasting rights. She also clarified that account sharing within a household is permitted and customer service can assist with any related issues.
Nylén further stated that Nilsson Lindelöf does not need to purchase a 700 SEK account, as Viaplay Sport is included in the medium package, which costs 399 SEK, or is available through various TV operators.
The Sweden-Switzerland match is scheduled to begin at 20.45.
