Svenska Kraftnät Announces Q4 2025 Schedule for 720 MW of Epad Auctions
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - September 13, 2025 – Svenska kraftnät, Sweden’s national grid operator, today released the auction schedule for 720 megawatts (MW) of electricity transmission capacity, known as Epads, to be auctioned off across six events during the fourth quarter of 2025. The auctions, beginning October 7th and concluding December 16th, are designed to provide electricity market participants with increased opportunities for price hedging.
This phased auction approach allows Svenska kraftnät to offer continuous access to price stabilization tools for energy companies, traders, and ultimately, consumers. The auctions support a more robust and predictable Swedish electricity market by enabling stakeholders to manage risk associated with price fluctuations. The capacity is divided across various periods – November 2025, December 2025, January 2026, and quarterly/annual periods extending into 2027 – with allocations ranging from 50 MW to 30 MW per auction event.
The auction schedule is as follows:
* October 7, 2025: 50 MW (NOV 2025), 30 MW (Q1 2026), 20 MW (Q2 2026), 10 MW (Year 2026), 10 MW (Year 2027)
* October 21, 2025: 50 MW (NOV 2025), 30 MW (Q1 2026), 20 MW (Q2 2026), 10 MW (Year 2026), 10 MW (Year 2027)
* November 4, 2025: 30 MW (Q1 2026), 20 MW (Q2 2026), 10 MW (Year 2026), 10 MW (Year 2027)
* November 18, 2025: 30 MW (Q1 2026), 20 MW (Q2 2026), 10 MW (year 2026), 10 MW (Year 2027)
* December 2, 2025: 50 MW (DEC 2025), 30 MW (Q1 2026), 20 MW (Q2 2026), 10 MW (Year 2026), 10 MW (Year 2027)

Epad auctions are a pilot project initiated by Svenska kraftnät to enhance price security on the Swedish electricity market.
