BBC Radio Presenter grilled by Students in Stoke-on-Trent
Stoke-on-Trent - Pupils at a local school recently had the opportunity to interview BBC Radio presenter Susan Hanks, turning the tables and posing questions to the seasoned broadcaster. The unique event allowed students to explore the world of media and gain insights into Hanks’ career path.
The grilling session, held at an undisclosed Stoke-on-Trent school, provided a platform for students to express their views and opinions, and to directly engage with a prominent figure in the broadcasting industry. The experience aimed to foster critical thinking and interaction skills, while offering a glimpse into potential career opportunities.
Students’ inquiries centered on Hanks’ personal journey, including her early aspirations to become a comedian, the experience of performing live, and her reflections on whether she missed the stage. Thay also explored her current role as a radio presenter, seeking to understand her favorite aspects of the job.
Hanks revealed that her most enjoyable part of radio presenting is “getting to be nosy, and being allowed to do it, so asking questions.” She playfully acknowledged the unusual dynamic of the interview, stating, “This is what’s weird about today for me, because normally, it’s me asking all the questions and I feel in control.”
The presenter further emphasized the value of conversation,adding,”I love chatting to people and it helps me to learn and understand the world better as well.” The event offered a valuable learning experience for the students, demonstrating the importance of questioning, listening, and engaging with diverse perspectives.
