Surachai & Daughter Dispute: Push Allegations, Divorce & Vow to Buddha

Bangkok, Thailand – A public dispute between Thai singer Surachai Sombatjaroen and his daughter, Kamonchanok Sombatjaroen (nicknamed “Ding”), has escalated into accusations of physical assault and a dramatic religious oath, according to statements released by both parties and reported by Thai media.

The conflict stems from Surachai’s recent divorce from his wife, Athapornpim Komolsen, and his subsequent relationship with a new partner in the United States. Kamonchanok alleges that her father pushed her during court proceedings related to the divorce, a claim Surachai vehemently denies.

According to reports, during the court hearing, the judge questioned Surachai about his concern for his children following the divorce. Kamonchanok claims the alleged push occurred after this questioning. Surachai responded to his daughter’s allegations with a video statement recorded before the sacred image of Luang Por Sotorn, a highly revered Buddha statue at Wat Sotornwararam Worawihan temple.

In the video, Surachai invoked the power of the deity, stating that if he had indeed pushed his daughter, he wished for a life of misfortune and ruin. However, he added that if Kamonchanok had falsely accused him, he would not hold any resentment towards her. This oath contrasts sharply with a previous oath he made regarding another individual, Surabordin Sombatjaroen (known as “Rocky”), where he called for natural consequences to befall the person if they lied.

“Before the images of Luang Por Sotorn and Luang Por Nak Prok, my daughter Kamonchanok Sombatjaroen has spoken falsely to the media, claiming that I pushed her causing her to stumble,” Surachai stated in the video. “If my daughter speaks the truth, and I did commit this act, may my life be filled with failure and ruin. But if my daughter lies, I will not hold any anger towards her.”

As of today, no official statement has been released by the Thai courts or law enforcement regarding Kamonchanok’s allegations. Surachai’s video statement has circulated widely on Thai social media, prompting further discussion and debate. The situation remains unresolved, with no immediate plans for further legal action or mediation publicly announced.
