Toyota Supra Completes First Official Supercars Test with Four-Driver Lineup

Winton, VIC – The Toyota Supra Gen3 Supercar has completed its maiden test at Winton Motor Raceway, with Walkinshaw Andretti United ⁣(WAU) utilizing a four-driver rotation to gather crucial engine data. The⁤ test marks a meaningful step in Toyota’s‍ return to Supercars competition after a 17-year absence, and signals the beginning of integration efforts ⁤for Brad Jones Racing (BJR) into the ‍new program.The two-day test saw experienced Supercars drivers Chaz ⁣Mostert,Warren Luff,Macauley Jones,and Ryan Wood share driving⁤ duties,focusing exclusively ⁤on engine performance​ and reliability. While no chassis or⁤ aerodynamic⁢ tuning was⁢ conducted, ​WAU team principal Carl Faux expressed satisfaction with the initial ‌progress, stating, “Performance⁤ of the car’s been very good so far.We haven’t⁢ missed a beat all day. Happy with that.” The Supra is slated to make its official public debut at the Bathurst 1000 in October.

Luff brings valuable experience with both the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang Gen3⁣ platforms, gained through his drives⁣ with Team 18 and ride day ⁢duties⁣ with WAU this ⁢year.Jones’ participation is part of a broader strategy to incorporate BJR into the Supra program,with the team​ aiming to have a completed Supra ready by the⁢ end ‍of the year,tho​ a specific track ‌debut date remains unconfirmed.

The test also followed a pre-launch presentation at Toyota’s Altona facility, where Crompton completed a ceremonial first drive of the⁢ Supra.⁤ Ryan Walkinshaw indicated further announcements regarding when Mostert and Wood will first drive the car are forthcoming.
