super Nova Earns Convincing Victory Over liepaja
Liepaja, Latvia – Super Nova secured a decisive 3-0 victory against Liepaja in the 27th round of the Tonybet Latvian Super League on Monday. The win halts liepaja’s four-game winning streak, which included a Latvian Cup quarter-final success.
Super Nova opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a goal from Agris Glaudans, capitalizing on a pass from Krister Skadmanis. Glaudans found the bottom left corner of the net, giving Super Nova a 1-0 lead.
Liepaja was forced to make a substitution in the 35th minute due to injury, bringing on Trezor Samb in place of Amadou.
Early in the second half,in the 47th minute,Glaudans extended super Nova’s lead to 2-0. He outpaced Vladislav Sorokin and, facing Liepaja goalkeeper Danijel Petkovich one-on-one, scored from the 11-meter mark into the lower corner.
A potential goal for Liepaja in the 73rd minute, scored by Edwin Girdvainis, was disallowed due to an offside call.
Thomas Zant sealed the victory for Super Nova in the 90th minute. after entering the game as a substitute for Glaudans, Zant broke free from Cyril Ilyin and scored into the lower right corner, making the final score 3-0.
The match concluded with Super Nova’s coach, Ervin Thunder, receiving two yellow cards and being ejected from the stadium.
Prior to Monday’s match, Liepaja had been on a four-game winning streak, while Super Nova had not secured five consecutive wins, including two in the Super League.
The teams had previously drawn 2-2 in their frist meeting this season. liepaja won the second encounter 3-1.
In other recent Super League results, Jelgava drew 1-1 with Tukums 2000 on Saturday, and Daugavpils defeated Metta 4-2. On sunday, Auda won 1-0 against Grobiņa.
Upcoming matches between league leaders RFS and riga have been rescheduled for September 25th. As of the 27th round, Riga leads the league with 67 points from 26 matches, followed by RFS with 64 points. Liepaja currently holds 44 points after 27 games, with Auda (40), Daugavpils (37), Jelgava (29), Super Nova (26), Tukums 2000 (25), Metta (21), and Grobiņa (20) completing the standings.
The Latvian super League consists of ten teams and is played over four rounds, with each team playing 36 games before the season concludes in November. RFS was the champion in the previous season.
