Super Mario Sunshine and Virtual Boy Games Coming to Nintendo Switch Online

Super Mario Sunshine joins the Nintendo Switch Online library next month alongside a fresh batch of classic Virtual Boy titles, expanding Nintendo’s retro catalog for subscribers.

According to gamereactor.asia, the 2002 GameCube platformer Super Mario Sunshine arrives on the subscription service next month. Subscribers to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier will gain access to the tropical-themed adventure, which tasks Mario with cleaning up Isle Delfino using the F.L.U.D.D. device.

The addition brings one of Nintendo’s most distinct GameCube titles to modern hardware, following previous ports like Super Mario 64 in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection. Players can expect the same open-world exploration and nozzle-based mechanics originally released on the sixth-generation console.

Virtual Boy Library Expands With New Additions

Alongside the GameCube classic, Nintendo is updating its retro selection with new Virtual Boy games. The red-and-black stereoscopic 3D titles will drop concurrently with Super Mario Sunshine next month for higher-tier subscribers.

The expansion continues Nintendo’s rollout of niche hardware history onto the Switch platform, allowing contemporary players to experience the ill-fated 1995 tabletop console’s library without hunting down original cartridges and rare hardware.
