Sunshine Coast Gymnastics concluded its inaugural competitive season with a triumphant showing at teh Whistler Summer Classic, held June 20-22 at the Whistler Athletes’ Centre.The team, competing in the Xcel Bronze divisions, secured the second-place team trophy, underscoring their skill, determination, and strong sense of teamwork.
The team’s success was spearheaded by Brooke Graversen, Joanie Wood, and makena Hull, who each achieved first place in the all-around standings within their respective age categories. All three gymnasts earned gold medals in three events and silver in their fourth, demonstrating exceptional precision and poise.
Further contributing to the impressive medal haul were Avery Torgunrud, who secured second on vault, first on uneven bars, third on balance beam, and second in the all-around.Lennon Budd-Blake earned a second-place finish on bars, while maya Roberts took second on floor. Amelii Friesen placed third on vault, and Zia Johnson rounded out the medal winners with a third-place finish on floor.
The club’s interclub gymnasts also delivered strong performances in their non-ranked category, showcasing confident routines across all apparatus. These athletes received numerous gold scores, recognizing their skill and artistry, and their enthusiasm highlighted the program’s developing talent pool.
Sunshine Coast Gymnastics expressed pride in its athletes’ accomplishments and gratitude for the support from families, coaches, and the community.
