Storm Lucky Larsen Masters Kicks Off PBA Tour Finale in Sweden
The 2026 Professional Bowlers Association Tour season finale officially kicked off on Friday, August 21, at Olympia Bowling in Helsingborg, Sweden, bringing the world’s top bowling competitors to Scandinavia for the Storm Lucky Larsen Masters.
Helsingborg Hosts the 2026 Storm Lucky Larsen Masters
Olympia Bowling in Helsingborg has transformed into the epicenter of professional ten-pin bowling as the Storm Lucky Larsen Masters gets underway. This marks the fourth consecutive season that the PBA Tour has concluded its schedule with this European title event.
Past champions of the tournament include AJ Johnson, who secured his first title in 2023, followed by Swedish star Jesper Svensson in 2024, and Sean Rash, who fought through injury to capture the crown a year ago. Daily updates and tournament results are hosted on PBA.com and BowlingLife.EU, while all qualifying and match play rounds are livestreamed for free on the official Storm Lucky Larsen Masters YouTube channel.
The Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year Race Intensifies
The stakes in Sweden extend far beyond the immediate trophy, with major implications for the Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year race. Three-time reigning Player of the Year EJ Tackett leads the tour in most statistical categories, including points, earnings, average, and top-five finishes.
Despite his statistical dominance, Tackett shares the tour lead in actual tournament victories with a select group. While Tackett captured a historic four-peat at the AMF PBA World Championship, he did not secure any other tour titles during the regular season. This opened the door for breakout star Zach Wilkins, veteran Marshall Kent, and rookies Alex Horton and Spencer Robarge to each compile a pair of tournament wins. Wilkins, Horton, and Robarge have traveled to Sweden in pursuit of a third victory, though Kent is not scheduled to compete.
Tackett’s points lead—roughly equivalent to the value of two major championship titles—may solidify his award campaign despite the single-title difference with contenders like Wilkins and Horton. However, a three-to-one title ratio could sway voters.
Historic Rookie Class Competes for Top Honors
The race for the Harry Golden PBA Rookie of the Year award features members of the greatest rookie class in PBA history. Rookies Alex Horton and Spencer Robarge made history this season by becoming the first pair of rookies to win multiple titles in their debut season.
Despite their multiple wins, Horton and Robarge face competition from Brandon Bonta. Bonta captured a single victory, but that win carried major prestige, coming against EJ Tackett in a title match featuring a televised 300 game. Furthermore, Bonta finished third in total points and earnings, ahead of both Horton and Robarge, while recording strong finishes across all four major tournaments he entered.
Another rookie standout, Austin Grammar, who won the Surfside PBA New York Classic, finishes out of contention for the final event as he is not scheduled to make the trip to Sweden.
Tournament Format and Prize Structure
The Storm Lucky Larsen Masters utilizes a multi-stage format to test the endurance of international competitors. Players have the opportunity to bowl across multiple qualifying squads from August 21 through August 29.

The top 25 qualifying scores from the six-game rounds earn direct entry into Final Step 2. Competitors placing 26th through 40th, alongside an additional 15 qualifiers outlined in tournament regulations, advance to Final Step 1. Final Step 1 is a five-game round, while Final Step 2 requires another six-game round.
These advancer rounds narrow the field down to 16 players for elimination match play. The Round of 16 and Round of 8 consist of three-game total pinfall matches, while the semifinal and final rounds are decided in a single game. The ultimate winner will collect 200.000 SEK (est. $21, 750 USD) and, if registered as a PBA member, an official PBA Tour title.
Managing international travel logistics and large-scale competitive schedules requires precise coordination.
Looking Ahead as the Season Concludes
As the final frames roll at Olympia Bowling, the outcomes in Helsingborg will permanently shape the record books for the 2026 professional bowling calendar.
The conclusion of the tournament marks the end of a fiercely contested tour schedule, leaving players and fans to await the official crowning of the season’s statistical leaders and award winners.
