According to reporting from Black Enterprise, former NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy approached Harvey after the show gained traction, asking him to switch the series from ABC to NBC. Telegdy offered to match Harvey’s existing compensation to secure the intellectual property.
“I said, ‘No man, that ain’t right,’” Harvey recalled on the podcast. “They believed in it, and gave me a crack. I’m gonna stay with them.”
Harvey stated that his refusal visibly angered the executive. “He hated me. That white man couldn’t believe I told him no,” Harvey said. When Harvey noticed a sudden absence of birthday and holiday greetings from network leadership, he knew a professional rupture was underway.
Cancellations and the Push for Ownership in Daytime Television
The retaliation materialized swiftly in May 2019. Harvey stated that Telegdy told him directly, “I’ll show him.
