Starting Issues Briefly Delay V86, Karat River Secures victory
SOLVALLA, Sweden – A brief starting gate malfunction caused a delay at the beginning of the V86 racing event today, though the issue was quickly resolved and did not significantly impact the competition. The incident involved the starting carS wings folding in prematurely, prompting a restart. Despite the initial hiccup, Karat River delivered on expectations, winning the third leg of the V86 series.
The V86 is a popular Swedish trotting competition offering significant prize money and attracting a wide audience of bettors. Today’s event saw a total payout of 32,330 SEK for those correctly predicting all eight races. The starting gate issue, while minor, underscores the precision required in harness racing and the potential for unexpected challenges.
Karat River, driven by Johan Untersteiner, won with a time of 1.09.8 over the 1,609-meter Elite race distance, earning a purse of SEK 60,000.
“It went away the first 500 meters, then I could slip into death which was absolutely perfect for me. I was able to run the race just as I wanted,” Untersteiner said after the race. He added, “It’s a nice horse, yet he is not in a hundred percent blow for the day, but he knows even better late.”
