SpaceX successfully launched 28 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in florida. This mission marks a significant milestone, pushing the total number of active Starlink satellites in orbit beyond 8,000.
The launch utilized a SpaceX falcon 9 rocket, which performed as expected. approximately two minutes after liftoff, the rocket’s first stage separated from the upper stage. It then executed a propulsive return to Earth, landing on the autonomous droneship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” positioned in the Atlantic Ocean. This particular booster, designated B1078,completed its 22nd flight.
This triumphant deployment comes just two days after the Starlink network experienced a global outage lasting 2.5 hours. SpaceX attributed the disruption to a “failure of key internal software services that operate the core network,” according to an update shared on the Starlink account on the X social media platform. SpaceX officials have since confirmed that the network issue has been resolved and service has been restored, offering an apology for the inconvenience.
SpaceX currently holds a license to deploy a total of 12,000 Starlink relay units, with this latest launch contributing to the expansion of its satellite internet constellation.
