‘Starfleet Academy‘ Official Trailer Released, Premiering January 15 on Paramount+
The first official trailer for Paramount+’s Starfleet Academy debuted at New York Comic Con on Saturday, offering an extended look at the live-action drama series centered on young cadets. The show is set to premiere January 15, 2024.
The series marks a new direction for the Star Trek franchise, focusing on the formative years of Starfleet members in their early twenties.The trailer follows a first teaser that garnered mixed reactions online, with this new footage emphasizing dramatic intensity and introducing recurring alien villain, played by Paul Giamatti.
Starfleet Academy stars Holly Hunter as the Academy’s chancellor, alongside Robert Picardo reprising his role as The Doctor, and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) as a guest star in season one. The cast also includes Sandro Rosta, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner. Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau co-showrun and executive produce with Gaia Violo, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber.
The trailer’s release arrives during a period of transition for Paramount+’s Star Trek universe, following the conclusions of Revelation, Star trek: Picard, Star trek: Lower decks, and Star Trek: Prodigy. Strange New Worlds has also been renewed for a fifth and final season.Paramount+ is positioning academy as a key component of the franchise’s future, aiming to attract a new generation of viewers.
