St. Thomas Celts Defeat North American University 2-0

HOUSTON, TX – The university of St. thomas men’s soccer team defeated North American University 2-0 Wednesday at SaberCats Stadium,continuing their winning ‍streak against the Stallions.

The Celts, having previously defeated NAU‍ this season, ⁢controlled the match with ⁣a strong defensive performance from goalkeeper Jorge Gonzalez and key goals from Tony ⁤castro and Jeth Flores. The victory‌ improves St. ⁤Thomas’s record to 3-1 as they prepare for a road match ⁣against Houston-Victoria. This win ⁤solidifies‌ the Celts’ ‍position as a competitive ‍force in the early season and builds momentum for their upcoming challenges.

The Stallions began the first half aggressively, but ​Gonzalez thwarted their ‌attempts with two ​crucial saves. The celts responded with offensive pressure, culminating in a 37th-minute goal by Castro, assisted by‌ Brian⁢ Garcia, to take a 1-0​ led into halftime.

Intensity escalated in the second⁢ half, but the Celts maintained composure and extended their advantage when ⁣flores successfully⁣ converted a penalty kick. ​St. Thomas then managed the remainder of the match, securing the 2-0 victory.
