St. Petersburg House Fire: Arson Investigation & Teen Death
A house fire in St. Petersburg on Sunday that claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman has been ruled arson, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. Detectives determined the blaze, which occurred in the 3960 block of Neptune Drive Southeast in the Coquina Key neighborhood, was intentionally set.
The fire broke out shortly after 3:15 a.m. On Sunday, March 22nd, and investigators were alerted to its suspicious nature early on. An arson dog was deployed as part of the standard investigative procedure, according to Deputy Fire Chief Brett Ciskoski.
Angelina Anderson, 18, died as a result of her injuries sustained in the fire. A 35-year-old woman remains hospitalized in critical, but stable, condition. A teenager and a child were treated for smoke inhalation and have since been released from medical care.
The St. Petersburg Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying anyone with information regarding suspicious activity or individuals observed near 3963 Neptune Drive SE around 3:18 a.m. On Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department at 727-893-7780. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via text message by sending “SPPD” followed by the tip to TIP411.
Detectives are also seeking any available video recordings or other relevant information that may aid in the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.
