‘St.Elmo’s Fire’ Returns to Theaters for 40th Anniversary Run
Moviegoers will have a chance to revisit the iconic 1985 film St. Elmo’s Fire on the big screen as it returns to theaters nationwide for a one-week engagement beginning October 17. The re-release commemorates the film’s 40th anniversary.
St. Elmo’s Fire, directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Andrew McCarthy, demi moore, and Judd nelson, captured the anxieties and aspirations of a generation navigating post-college life. The film’s enduring popularity stems from its relatable themes of friendship, ambition, and the challenges of adulthood. A sequel is also in development, with Rob Lowe sharing in June that “We’re working on a script and its getting really good.” Lowe added, “I think it’s super valid to revisit those characters that continue to mean a lot to people and watch them navigate this chapter of life, because arguably this chapter of life is every bit as fascinating and fraught as – ‘What do I do when I get out of college?'”
