Warm Temperatures Briefly Lingered in St. Cloud Before Fall’s Arrival
ST.CLOUD, MN – A recent warm spell brought a high of 91 degrees to St. Cloud on Tuesday, but the National Weather Service forecasts a shift towards cooler, wetter conditions signaling a transition into fall. While the temperature was above the typical 71-degree high for this time of year, it fell short of the record of 94 degrees set in 1948.
This brief return to summer-like heat is notable as it concludes a relatively mild summer for the region. St. Cloud has experienced only six days reaching the 90s this year – June 2nd (91°), june 21st (96°), June 22nd (95°), July 3rd (91°), July 4th (93°), and september 16th (91°).The average number of 90-degree days for St.Cloud is approximately 11 per year.The incoming change in weather patterns will likely define the character of the fall season, impacting everything from agricultural yields to recreational activities.
The National Weather Service predicts multiple rounds of showers and storms through the end of the week. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 1-1.5 inches across western Minnesota to 0.5-1 inch in portions of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. As of September 16th, St. cloud has received 0.83 inches of rain this month, falling short of the normal amount by 0.89 inches. This upcoming precipitation is anticipated to help alleviate the rainfall deficit.
