SSR Transforms Porsche 911 with 800HP Twin-Turbo to Rival New GT2 RS

April 9, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

SSR has engineered a high-performance modification of the Porsche 911, integrating a twin-turbocharged system to push the vehicle’s output to 800 horsepower. The project aims to position this custom build as a direct competitor to the performance benchmarks set by the upcoming GT2 RS.

Technical Modifications and Power Output

The conversion focuses on a significant overhaul of the engine’s forced induction system. By replacing the standard configuration with a twin-turbo setup, SSR has increased the power ceiling to 800 horsepower, a figure that exceeds the factory specifications of the standard GT3 RS. This modification is designed to bridge the gap between the naturally aspirated precision of the GT3 series and the raw power characteristic of the GT2 line.

Performance Positioning

The objective of the SSR build is to challenge the capabilities of the new GT2 RS. While the GT3 RS is optimized for track agility and high-RPM response, the addition of twin turbos shifts the vehicle’s performance profile toward higher torque and top-end speed. The build focuses on maintaining the 911’s chassis stability while managing the substantial increase in power delivered to the rear wheels.

The project represents a targeted effort to replicate the “supercar killer” status of the GT2 RS through aftermarket engineering, utilizing the 911 platform to achieve power figures typically reserved for Porsche’s most exclusive factory-built track weapons.
