Florida State Receiver Squirrel White Unharmed After Field Rush at Virginia Game
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – September 26, 2023 – Florida State wide receiver Squirrel White was initially caught in a chaotic scene as Virginia fans stormed the field following the cavaliers’ 46-38 double-overtime upset victory over the Seminoles on Saturday. White was promptly surrounded by celebrating fans,raising concerns for his safety. However, reports indicate he is unharmed.
The field rush occurred immediately after Virginia sealed the win with an interception, and fans were able to access the playing surface without barriers.On3’s Pete Nakos reported that white made it to the locker room and was in good condition. He was also observed walking amidst the ongoing celebration on the field.
The double-overtime win marked a notable moment for Virginia football, improving their record to 4-1 – surpassing their win total from the entirety of the previous season. Quarterback Chandler Morris led the Cavaliers with five total touchdowns,including the game-winning score.
Virginia, a first-time offender regarding the ACC’s field-storming rules, will be required to pay a $50,000 fine to the weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate scholarship fund.
Florida State’s loss drops their record to 3-1 and is expected to impact their national ranking.
