‘Spillet’ TV Show: Alcohol Restrictions & Cast Reactions Revealed

March 22, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Several participants in the current season of TV 2’s popular reality show “Spillet” (The Game) have reported a significant reduction in alcohol availability compared to previous seasons, despite the program’s history of depicting contestants consuming alcohol even as navigating strategic alliances and betrayals.

While earlier iterations of the show were often characterized by readily available wine and beer, with contestants freely refilling their glasses, several participants in season four claim that alcohol access has been markedly restricted. Influencer and TV personality Sebastian Solberg, 34, described the situation as a stark contrast to expectations. “There was far too little alcohol, and the group from last season ensured that,” Solberg told Se og Hør. “They ruined it for us, which I believe was pretty bad sportsmanship.”

Solberg asserted that the limited alcohol supply was a direct consequence of the previous season’s perceived excesses. “They probably thought they couldn’t do that again this year, so we were just sitting there completely sober. We had to fight for the little alcohol we got if we wanted to get drunk,” he said.

Actress Line Verndal, 53, echoed Solberg’s account, stating that the group received only a limited number of bottles. “We maybe got three bottles for the whole group. We almost weren’t allowed to drink. It was a little beer and three bottles of wine shared among everyone,” Verndal told Se og Hør. “There was maybe a glass or two each. We drank little and had to go to bed early. I know there’s been a lot of drinking before, but now it was extremely ‘straight’.”

However, not all contestants shared the same experience. Actor Stig Henrik Hoff, 61, reported having ample access to alcohol, receiving two bottles of wine from another participant. “I wasn’t necessarily lacking alcohol. I drank two bottles alone that another participant gave me. I danced on the kitchen floor with my headset on for an hour and a half in the middle of the night,” Hoff told Se og Hør. “I ate some snacks and continued dancing. Then I was having a great time. I emptied both bottles.”

The claims of reduced alcohol availability come after previous seasons of “Spillet” faced criticism for portraying excessive drinking. In 2025, the alcoholvettorganisasjonen Av-og-til (the moderation organization) expressed concern over the program’s depiction of alcohol consumption and participants’ accounts of experiencing hangovers, describing it as “problematic,” according to Se og Hør. Martin Lepperød, a participant in season two, told Nettavisen that there was a “free flow of alcohol” in the house, and Oskar Westerlin reported experiencing fylleangst (hangover anxiety) after filming.

Responding to the reports, TV 2’s press officer, Jan-Petter Dahl, denied that the production had intentionally limited alcohol access this season. “In all seasons, participants have had access to a limited amount of alcohol. The amount is the same in each season, and no changes were made from season three to season four,” Dahl told Se og Hør. “We always assess the level continuously so that alcohol does not take focus away from the game itself.”

Dahl explained that a participant had brought additional wine into the house as a gesture of goodwill after being eliminated, and that this wine replaced existing stock, maintaining the overall quantity. He too confirmed that participants were not issued drink vouchers and that production staff continuously monitored alcohol consumption both day and night.
