Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Breaks Records, Surpassing GTA 6 & Deadpool 3
The trailer for Sony Pictures’ upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day garnered 718 million views across all platforms within its first 24 hours, surpassing the debut performance of the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, according to Sony.
The figure as well exceeds the opening day view counts for trailers of Deadpool & Wolverine, previously holding the record, and other highly anticipated films, signaling significant public interest in the next installment of the Spider-Man franchise. The trailer’s release was structured as a global event, with snippets revealed over 24 hours culminating in a full reveal by Tom Holland atop the Empire State Building, according to Marvel.com.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, slated for release on July 31, 2026, marks a new chapter for Peter Parker, four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tom Holland reprises his role as Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, based on the Marvel comic book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
The narrative centers on Peter Parker, now an adult living in isolation after voluntarily erasing himself from the memories of those he loves, continuing his crime-fighting efforts in a New York City unaware of his identity. The film will explore a “surprising physical evolution” of his powers and a new, powerful threat, as detailed in the official synopsis.
Producer Amy Pascal indicated in November 2021 that Brand New Day was intended to be the first in a new trilogy of Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland, with story development beginning shortly thereafter. Sony Pictures has not commented on potential future installments. The character of Spider-Man remains a key asset for Sony, alongside the PlayStation brand, and the company has indicated We see unlikely to sell the rights to Marvel Studios in the near future.
The film is a production of Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, and Pascal Pictures, and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is intended to be the 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
