SpaceX Hits Billion-Dollar Profit via Starlink and AI Growth
Elon Musk’s SpaceX posted a net profit of 4.4 billion dollars for the third quarter, rebounding from a loss of just over one billion dollars during the same period last year.
Surging Revenues at Starlink and AI Data Centers
Total revenue climbed to 14.58 billion dollars, up sharply from approximately 5.58 billion dollars a year earlier. Wall Street analysts had anticipated quarterly revenue of roughly 12.7 billion dollars.
The expansion was driven primarily by two divisions: internet services from space and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Starlink, the satellite internet division, generated 5.2 billion dollars in revenue, marking a 69 percent increase compared to the previous year. As of September 30, the network served 13.6 million customers and operated across roughly 3,800 commercial aircraft. The division’s operating income doubled to nearly 2.37 billion dollars.
Concurrently, revenue from artificial intelligence operations surged to 7.56 billion dollars, rising from 813 million dollars a year prior. SpaceXSI constructed large-scale data centers that are now leased to competing firms, including Anthropic, yielding substantial multi-billion-dollar payments. This segment delivered an operating profit of 431 million dollars, reversing an operating loss of 1.7 billion dollars from the prior-year period.
Public Offering Values Enterprise at 1.8 Trillion Dollars
The financial turnaround follows the mid-June public offering that generated a record 75 billion dollars in proceeds. Priced at 135 dollars per share, the market debut valued the enterprise at nearly 1.8 trillion dollars, creating a stark contrast to previous financial statements. Management justified the valuation by pointing to ambitious plans in artificial intelligence and satellite infrastructure.
Following the public offering, retail investor interest pushed share prices as high as 225 dollars before the stock temporarily dipped below its initial issue price. In post-market trading following the latest financial disclosure, shares rose 1.5 percent to approximately 150 dollars.
SpaceX remains a critical supplier for the United States space program, currently directing substantial capital into the development of the Starship rocket system designed to significantly lower the cost of delivering payloads into orbit.
