Mission Details and Anomaly

The NYX capsule,constructed by The Exploration Company,was deployed on june 23,2025,from the Vandenberg Space Force base atop a Falcon-9 rocket. The mission successfully completed two orbits around Earth before initiating its planned return. Though,a critical failure in the parachute deployment system led to an uncontrolled impact with the Pacific ocean,dispersing the contents of the capsule.

Celestis acknowledged the loss and expressed hope that families would find solace in knowing their loved ones participated in a historic space journey. The company described the final resting place as a “traditional and honorable marine dispersion.”
