Southland Boys Basketball Rankings: Final Top 25 for 2024

Sierra Canyon has completed an undefeated season, securing the top spot in The Times’ final boys’ basketball rankings for the Southland. The Golden Eagles (30-1) claimed both the Southern Section Open Division championship and the State Open Division title, solidifying their dominance.

Harvard-Westlake finished at No. 2 (27-7), falling to Sierra Canyon in the Southern Section Open Division final and the Regional Open Division final. Santa Margarita (28-6) took the third position, having been eliminated by Harvard-Westlake in the Regional Open Division semifinals, according to reporting from the Orange County Register.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (22-8) landed at No. 4, reaching the Southern Section Open Division semifinals and falling in the first round of the Regional Open Division. La Mirada (24-9) followed at No. 5, also exiting in the Southern Section Open Division semifinals and the first round of the Regional Division I tournament.

Damien (32-7) secured the No. 6 ranking, achieving victory as the State Division I champions. Redondo Union (27-5) was ranked seventh, having competed in the Regional Open Division. St. John Bosco (24-10) came in at No. 8, reaching both the Southern Section Open Division and the Regional Division I final.

Crespi (21-14) and Corona Centennial (27-8) rounded out the top ten, at No. 9, and No. 10 respectively. Both teams competed in the Regional Division I tournament, with Crespi reaching the second round and Corona Centennial also being eliminated in the second round.

Crean Lutheran (28-8) was ranked 11th, winning the Southern Section Division 1 championship and advancing to the Regional Division I semifinals. JSerra (24-14) followed at No. 12, finishing as the Southern Section Division 1 runner-up and reaching the Regional Division I second round. Etiwanda (26-5) was ranked 13th, competing in the Southern Section Open Division.

Inglewood (28-7) secured the 14th spot, reaching the Southern Section Division 1 semifinals and the Regional Division I first round. Village Christian (24-7) was ranked 15th, reaching the Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals. Rolling Hills Prep (23-7) followed at No. 16, also reaching the Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals.

Brentwood (26-4) was ranked 17th, advancing to the Southern Section Division 1 second round. Bishop Amat (28-6) secured the 18th position, winning the Southern Section Division 2 championship and competing in the Regional Division 1 first round. Hesperia (24-9) followed at No. 19, finishing as the Southern Section Division 2 runner-up and competing in the Regional Division 1 first round.

Mater Dei (22-16) was ranked 20th, reaching the Southern Section Division 2 semifinals and the Regional Division 1 semifinals. Rancho Christian (22-1) came in at No. 21, reaching the Southern Section Division 1 semifinals and the Regional Division 1 first round. Loyola (16-14) was ranked 22nd, advancing to the Southern Section Division 1 second round.

Palisades (23-12) secured the 23rd spot, winning the City Open Division championship and reaching the Regional Division II final. Los Alamitos (19-10) rounded out the rankings at No. 25, competing in the Southern Section Division 1 first round.

Sierra Canyon and Harvard-Westlake are scheduled for a rematch in the CIF regional finals on Tuesday, as reported by the Los Angeles Daily News.
