Southern California NCKU Alumni Association Holds Annual Meeting

Southern California NCKU Alumni Association Holds Annual Meeting

November 4, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

School Song Opens Generations-Spanning Program

The afternoon began with the traditional university school song. Alumni children Liu Yi-tsen and Chen Jui-ting performed the opening instrumental, bridging the first generation of overseas graduates and their descendants. Chapter President Hsu Shih-han organized this year’s event around the theme of generational continuity.

The gathering brought together approximately 150 guests, current leaders, and younger alumni. Hsu adjusted the traditional framework of the association to place alumni at the center of the stage. Self-organized groups, including pickleball and bridge teams, received recognition for their active participation during the past year.

Scholarships Awarded to High School and University Students

The program highlighted financial support for younger scholars.

Leadership updates accompanied the awards ceremony. Hsu presented an appointment certificate to permanent honorary advisor Sun Kuo-tai, alongside incoming advisors Chen Chung and Cheng Dong-hai. Outgoing second vice president Chen Yi-wun noted the strong cohesion among members, tracing the evolution of overseas alumni from early careers in aerospace, chemical engineering, and engineering to diverse contemporary professions.

Cultural Performances and Community Integration

Entertainment filled the latter half of the agenda. Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Ma Bo-yuan and his wife performed a vocal duet of The Prayer. The Walnut Folk Dance Club presented a traditional routine, while the board of directors performed a line dance.

Attendees participated in interactive team games and a lucky draw featuring airline tickets sponsored by China Airlines. Founded in 1968, the Southern California chapter now connects roughly 900 members across the region, maintaining institutional links with the main campus in Taiwan through ongoing mentorship and financial aid programs.
