Southeastern Lions Climb to No. 22 in FCS Football Rankings

HAMMOND, La. –Southeastern Louisiana University​ (SLU) football has cracked the AFCA FCS Coaches Top 25 poll,debuting at No. ​22, as announced Monday.⁤ This⁢ marks the programS first appearance in the national rankings​ since October 2022.

The ⁣Lions’ inclusion in the poll reflects​ a⁢ strong start to the 2023 season, ‍currently holding​ a 4-2 record. Southeastern received 98 points in the initial ranking and is also garnering attention, receiving 96 ⁢votes in ‌the Stats Perform ⁣FCS Top ​25⁢ poll.This national recognition elevates the program’s profile and ⁢impacts recruiting,fundraising,and overall visibility for​ SLU ⁣athletics.

Southeastern’s ranking ⁢comes alongside a competitive landscape in the FCS, currently led by North Dakota State at No.1. Othre⁣ Southland ⁣Conference‍ teams receiving votes​ include Nicholls State and UIW.‍ The Lions are coming off ‌a recent victory ⁤and will continue their season with‍ upcoming ​matchups that will test‌ their standing in the national rankings.
