HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) football has cracked the AFCA FCS Coaches Top 25 poll,debuting at No. 22, as announced Monday. This marks the programS first appearance in the national rankings since October 2022.
The Lions’ inclusion in the poll reflects a strong start to the 2023 season, currently holding a 4-2 record. Southeastern received 98 points in the initial ranking and is also garnering attention, receiving 96 votes in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll.This national recognition elevates the program’s profile and impacts recruiting,fundraising,and overall visibility for SLU athletics.
Southeastern’s ranking comes alongside a competitive landscape in the FCS, currently led by North Dakota State at No.1. Othre Southland Conference teams receiving votes include Nicholls State and UIW. The Lions are coming off a recent victory and will continue their season with upcoming matchups that will test their standing in the national rankings.
